Boat maintenance
Maintenance is the one thing that can really wear on a captain. Nobody wants to spend their free time polishing and waxing, re-bedding hardware, replacing a broken latch or repairing the snap that pulled out the last time the cockpit cover came off in a hurry.
The fact remains: it has to be done.
The story goes like this. The bow rail that wasn't re-bedded turns into a rotted core repair. The skipped wax leaves your gelcoat heavily oxidized, needing hours of polishing. The broken latch lets the storage locker swing open and chip the gelcoat. That tiny hole where the snap used to be lets rain water into the core, and leaves you with a costly repair.
