Diesel Repowers

Diesel repowers in Port Huron, Michigan

A tired diesel doesn't have to mean a new boat. A repower puts modern, reliable power in a hull you already know and trust, and it's almost always the cheaper path to another decade of running. Guild Marine handles marine diesel repowers start to finish from our shop at 3605 32nd St, Port Huron.

What a repower involves

Every boat is different, but a typical diesel repower at our shop covers:

  • Removing the old engines. Pulling the existing diesels and clearing the engine room for the new installation.
  • Fabricating new engine mounts. New power rarely drops onto old beds. We fabricate mounts to fit the new engines to your stringers and driveline.
  • Exhaust risers and exhaust system. Fabricated and fitted to the new engines so the system breathes and drains the way it should.
  • Wiring and instrumentation. New harnesses, controls, and gauges tied into the boat's existing electrical system.
  • Sea trial. We run the boat, check alignment, temperatures, and performance under load, and sort out anything that shows up on the water rather than at the dock.

We are an FPT Industrial dealer

We sell and install FPT Industrial marine diesels, which means the engine and the installation come from the same shop rather than from a supplier and a yard who blame each other when something does not line up. We also stock genuine FPT parts and can carry out warranty work.

Three engines are available to us in the United States:

  • N67 — 6.7 litres, 350 to 570 hp. The right range for most boats on the Great Lakes.
  • C9 — 8.7 litres, 625 to 650 hp.
  • C16 — 15.9 litres, 500 to 1,000 hp, for larger cruisers and commercial hulls.

We are happy to repower with other makes too. But if you are open on brand, ask us about FPT — being the dealer as well as the installer takes a lot of friction out of the job.

Diesel service after the repower

We service what we install. Routine maintenance, impellers, oil changes, cooling systems, and troubleshooting on marine diesels are all part of what we do, so the boat has somewhere to come back to.
